Abstract

The abstract (of both full papers and poster papers) along with the title and author names etc, will be the only part of the paper or poster that will be printed in hard copy. It is therefore most important that the abstracts are reasonably comprehensive and must give the reader and adequate summary of the paper.  Consequently the abstracts should be about 300 words in length and must cover the following topics.

· Why the study was done (maximum two sentences)

· How the study was done (maximum four sentences)

· The results obtained (maximum six sentences), and

· The conclusions drawn from the study (maximum four sentences).

The abstract must not contain any figures, graphs or tables.

Introduction (this is the format of a main heading)

This section shows the layout/format of the words in the full length and poster papers.  These words give you an idea of what the paper should look like.  Please type over these words when preparing your paper so that the formatting is correct

A full paper should be no more than about 2,500 words in length (excluding the title, list of authors, and the abstract).  Only tables, figures and references that are strictly necessary fore the presentation should be included.

Poster papers should follow the layout and instructions for full length papers as far as feasible, except that poster papers must be limited to about 1000 words with strictly limited tables and figures.  The abstract of poster papers will also be in hard copy along with the abstracts of full papers

            Sub-heading

This is the format of the first sub-heading.  The layout of the paragraphs within this sub-heading (and the Sub-sub-heading and, if you get that far, the Sub-sub-sub-heading) are all the same as in the paragraphs associated with the Main heading

When ever or where ever you want to include a table, it should be designed to fit in “portrait” layout within the relevant text and as close to the appropriate location as possible.  Within a table, the text and typeface should be Arial light 10 pt.  The title of the table should be centred above the table with the following format.

Table 1 – Title of the table (centred)

Authors must convert figures, graphs or diagrams into Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Powerpoint.  Photographs should be provided in .jpg format.  All Figures, whether they be figures, photographs or diagrams, should be embedded within the text.  The title should be centred below the figure with the following format.

Fig 1 – Title of the figure (centred)

            Sub-sub-heading

A sub-sub-heading looks like this.

            Sub-sub-sub-heading

If you get this far, a sub-sub-sub-heading has this format.  Please repeat the Main headings, Sub-headings, Sub-sub-headings, and sub-sub-sub-headings as necessary as you progress through the paper.  References should be referred to in the text as Kingston (1994) or McBain et al. (2002).  The format of the references should be as follows.
